STAFFGEOLOGIST.COM

Staffgeologist.com is a new website that will allow recent geology graduates, young professionals, and geologists of all disciplines to gather and share information about the geology industry and network with peers.

There are many great geology related sites on the internet already.  I hope that this will become a ‘lounge’ of sorts where people can discuss interesting projects that they may be working on.

In the near future I would like to integrate the site with Twitter and Facebook so the staffgeologist network can expand.  I would also like to develop a forum where we can discuss our ideas and hobbies.  There are many topics besides geology that geologists seem to have in common.  Hiking, Backpacking, Climbing, Photography, Snow..whatever, Cycling, and Beer Drinking are a few that come to mind and I would like a venue for these topics. Maybe a forum will not even be needed, and social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook will fill this requirement.

Until my grand plans are in motion, I will be blogging on my life as a staff geologist at a consulting firm in California and will try to give insight to students who may soon be in the job market.  There is a blog link at the top of the page.  I have been working full-time for almost 3 years and I am trying to finish a Master’s thesis, so my head is about to explode.  I will hopefully be able to answer questions and give a few hints about what it is like to transition from being a student, to being a professional.

Please email me with any questions, comments or ideas.
